The Captives

"The Captives" tells the story of the John and Lydia German family  based on the book The Moccasin Speaks by Arlene Jauken. 


Written by Deb Goodrich and Ken Spurgeon, the Captives tells this powerful story amid the 1870s as the nation moved west and Native American tribes were pushed off their homelands. There German family from Georgia dreamed of a home in the west and the promise of a new life, fleeing the post- Civil War destruction of a war torn south.


Produced by Smokey Hill River Productions in association with New Albany Films, the film features the talents of Mary McDonough, Darby Hinton, Mo Brings Plenty, Buck Taylor, Wyatt McCrea, R.W. Hampton and more.


Slated for release in Fall 2026
